You finish a Zoom call, click “End Meeting,” and then wonder: where did that recording actually go? Where Zoom Local Recordings Are Saved
When you choose “Record on this Computer,” Zoom saves the recording directly to your hard drive. By default, the folder is:

/Users/[YourName]/Documents/Zoom
Each meeting gets its own subfolder named with the date and meeting title, for example: 2026-06-23 09.30.00 Weekly Standup. Inside that folder you’ll find:

Wrong folder location: Check the Recording settings in your Zoom app to confirm where your recordings are actually being saved. The default path may have been changed by you or your IT administrator.
Free plan restriction: Free Zoom accounts cannot use cloud recording. If you tried to record to the cloud on a free plan, the recording was not saved. Only local recording is available on free plans.
Host didn’t grant permission: If you were a participant (not the host), you can only record if the host explicitly enabled recording for you. If that permission wasn’t granted, no recording exists.
